Easy Ways To Have A French Kitchen

If you dream about having a French inspired kitchen, here are several ways to help you along the way.

The French are known for their classic, timeless, chic taste when it comes to fashion and French kitchens follow that same aesthetic.

Most of the spaces in our home are Parisian inspired and the kitchen is no exception. Our kitchen isn’t huge by any means, but I have tried over the years to decorate it with a mix of French country and Parisian chic.

One of the ways I do this is by creating little vignettes in the kitchen on the cozy corners or shelves. Of course, one of the easiest ways to have a French inspired kitchen is with fresh flowers.

I buy fresh flowers for the house once a week from Trader Joe’s and some of them go in the kitchen. You can also add a basil plant and fresh fruit for color as well.

How To Decorate A French Kitchen

When it comes to decorating a French inspired kitchen, you can go in a few different directions. You can either go French Country (more like the South of France) or more Parisian chic with black and white accents, kind of like a Parisian cafƩ.

I have tried to incorporate both of these elements into our French inspired kitchen. With the white subway tile, cabinets, and bistro chairs it takes on a Parisian feel.

However, I also have antique silverware in glass jars, copper pots, lots of wooden spoons, and wood floors to take on the French country kitchen.

Where To Buy Decor For A French Inspired Kitchen

A lot of items can actually be purchased at a thrift or antique store. There’s usually so much antique silverware at an antique market. I have some silverware given to me by my grandmother which we use daily.

And, several pieces have come from the flea market ( marchƩ aux puces) in Paris. These, of course, are the pieces I treasure the most.

Other places to look for French inspired kitchen decor are Home Goods, Pottery Barn, Target, Amazon, and Williams Sonoma.

For vintage French items always check ETSY as there are a number of sellers on there.
