The Ultimate Sézane Sizing Guide With Shopping Tips

If you’ve been eyeing French fashion, chances are you’ve come across Sézane, one of the most beloved Parisian clothing brands. Over the years, Sézane has become a staple in my wardrobe, and one of the most common questions I receive is about Sézane sizing. To help, I’ve created this detailed Sézane sizing guide based on the pieces I currently own and wear.

Because Sézane is a French brand, the fit often feels different compared to standard U.S. sizes, and in general, Sézane clothing tends to run small. My top tip: when in doubt, size up, especially if you have broad shoulders or a larger chest. While Sézane does provide a clear size chart to help guide you, their sizing can sometimes be a bit tricky, so having a smart strategy is essential.

In this post, I’m sharing my own experience along with a comprehensive Sézane size guide that covers U.S. to French size conversions, category-specific fit advice, and tips for choosing the right size in everything from Sézane dresses and sweaters to denim and shoes.

Who Is Sézane

I first discovered Sézane in 2017 while searching for French clothing brands, and after ordering my very first Sézane sweater, I immediately fell in love with the brand’s timeless style. Since then, I’ve continued to build my wardrobe with more Sézane pieces each year.

Founded in Paris by Morgane Sézalory, Sézane is known for creating high-quality French fashion with perfectly cut silhouettes designed to last forever, crafted in collaboration with some of the best ateliers.

The quality of Sézane clothing is exceptional; my earliest purchases from 2017 still look just as beautiful today. While Sézane may cost a little more than fast-fashion labels, the pieces are truly worth the investment for anyone building a French-inspired wardrobe.

When Do New Sézane Collections Debut

Sézane follows a very specific release calendar, and knowing when new collections drop will help you shop before items sell out.

  • Major Seasonal Collections – 4 times a year, always on Sundays at 9:30 AM CET
  • Monthly Capsule Collections – Once a month, always on Sundays
  • Weekly Restocks – Every Wednesday & Sunday at 9:30 AM CET, Sézane restocks sold-out favorites and occasionally adds late arrivals
  • Archive Sale– The archives sale takes place twice a year, offering pieces from previous collections at discounted prices.

How to Stay Updated

  • Sign up for Sézane emails → Early access to upcoming lookbooks and launch details
  • Follow Sézane on Instagram → See videos and styling previews of new and recent pieces
  • Download the Sézane app → Get push notifications and first looks before anyone else

Pro Shopping Tip

  • Sézane Essentials (like sweaters, denim, and classic blouses) usually stay in stock
  • Seasonal Sézane pieces often sell out quickly → If you see something you love, add it to your cart right away

Sézane Size Guide

Sézane provides a detailed size guide on every product page, making it easy to convert French sizes to U.S. sizes and find your best fit. You’ll see a general Sézane size chart listed under “See our Size Guide,” along with helpful notes on whether a particular item runs small, large, or true to size.

French sizes do have U.S. equivalents: FR 32 = US 0, FR 34 = US 2, FR 36 = US 4, FR 38 = US 6, FR 40 = US 8, FR 42 = US 10, FR 44 = US 12, FR 46 = US 14, and FR 48 = US 16. Currently, Sézane sizing only goes up to a US 16 (XXS–XXXL), though not all pieces are offered across this full-size range.

The good news is that the brand has expanded sizing in recent years on select items, and I’m hopeful they’ll continue adding more inclusive sizing options.

To double-check whether your favorite Sézane piece runs large or small, look for the “Sizing Tips” section above the Add to Basket button; this feature often gives specific guidance for that item.

A Guide To Sézane Sizing On Pieces I Own

Below, I’m sharing all the Sézane pieces I own along with the sizes I wear in each category. For reference, I’m 5’5 ½” tall, typically a U.S. size 6, and usually wear a Small in U.S. sizing.

Overall, I find that most Sézane clothing fits true to size for me, but there are certain pieces, especially Sézane denim, where I always size up for comfort.

On my body type (triangle shape with broad shoulders, a longer torso, and shorter legs), I often need to have bottoms shortened, but tops and dresses generally fit well in my usual size.

I’ve organized my Sézane size guide by category, and you can also check my seasonal Sézane favorites here on the blog for updated styling inspiration.

Sézane Tops

Sézane Chlo Blouse

The Chlo is one of the signatures of Sézane tops, which come in either silk or cotton and vary in colors for each season. I love this top because the detail is so beautiful and different with the ruffle collar and drop sleeves.

You can easily dress this top up or wear it more casually. I wear this top in my normal size of 6 in both silk and cotton fabrics.

I own this top in the navy, ecru, and black colors and wear each of them consistently. If you are looking for a gorgeous silk top to elevate your outfits, this is the one.

Sézane Bilma Top

Woman wearing sezane bilma blouse walking down the street.

The Bilma Top is a classic poplin stripe with oversized cuffs and Mother-of-pearl buttons. The top is oversized, so I sized down to a size 36 or size 4. You can easily wear this top with pants or even a pair of wide-leg denim and some ballet flats for fall.

Sézane Rym Shirt

Woman wearing the Rym shirt in Paris in white.

The Sézane Rym Top is one of the brand’s most popular French-inspired blouses, blending timeless design with romantic details. This elegant long-sleeved lace top features a beautifully gathered high collar and delicate lace trim on the body, sleeves, and cuffs, making it the perfect elevated piece for both day and night.

Like many Sézane tops, the Rym is versatile enough to style with denim for a chic everyday look or with tailored trousers and skirts for a more polished outfit.

If you’re building a French wardrobe with Sézane essentials, the Rym Top is a must-have—classic, feminine, and designed to last season after season.

I go up one size in the Rym as it fits a bit smaller with the lace detailing.

Sézane Annabelle Blouse

Woman wearing annabelle blouse | A Guide To Sézane Sizing

The Annabelle Blouse is the perfect top for spring and summer with the gorgeous eyelet detail. Sézane eyelet tops are some of the best around, thanks to the intricate details and patterns on the top. In the eyelet tops, I usually take my normal size of 6, unless the brand recommends sizing up.

Sézane Tomboy

The Tomboy shirt is probably the most perfect button-down that I would love to own in every color available. It’s hard to find a great button-down that’s thick enough yet comfortable to wear all day. You can feel the quality in this shirt and it looks great with a belt and jeans. I own this top in the blue and white color.

It’s also nice enough to wear with pants and pumps for work. I sized up to an 8 or 40 in European size in this top because I have broad shoulders. For a fitted look, you could size down.

Sézane Colette Marinière

The Sézane Colette Marinière Top is a modern take on the classic French striped shirt, a wardrobe essential that embodies effortless Parisian style. Crafted from soft, high-quality cotton, this long-sleeved striped Breton top features a slightly relaxed fit with elegant details that make it easy to dress up or down. I wear this top in a size medium, but if you want it a bit more snug, then I would recommend sizing down.

The Colette Marinière pairs perfectly with denim, trousers, or layered under a blazer for a chic everyday look. If you’re looking to add a timeless French striped top to your collection, the Colette Marinière is a versatile staple you’ll reach for season after season.

Sizing Guide To Sézane Dresses

Sézane Adèle Dress

I love the beautiful detailing on this Adele Dress I wear in size 6. It’s the perfect midi-length dress to wear for special occasions or everyday use.

Sézane Raquel Dress

Sezane sizing guide wearing the Raquel dress.

The Raquel Dress is a timeless wardrobe staple that captures the essence of effortless French style. Designed with a flattering, feminine silhouette, this dress often features a defined waistline and flowing fabric that make it both elegant and easy to wear.

Whether styled with sandals in the summer, boots in the fall, or layered with a blazer for a polished look, the Raquel Dress transitions seamlessly from day to night. Like many Sézane dresses, it combines comfort with chic design, making it a versatile piece that comes in many colors.

Sézane Paola Dress

This is the Paola Dress, which I love to wear in the fall with short and tall boots. I am wearing a small in the dress, it does fit a bit looser than form-fitting.

I love the gold detail buttons down the sides of the arm, and it’s just a cute classic piece for the season. You could also wear a navy blazer or denim jacket over the dress as well to dress it up a bit.

Guide To Sézane Sizing For Jackets

Sézane Scott Trench

My absolute favorite trench and one I wear pretty much year-round, especially as a layering piece in fall and transition coat in spring is the Sézane Scott Trench.

I sized up this trench to a U.S. 8 and French size 40. I want to be able to wear sweaters underneath, plus I have broad shoulders. If you want a more fitted look, then maybe size down. The Scott Trench comes in 3 colors, and I am wearing the camel.

Sézane Clyde Trench

Woman wearing sezane light trench coat and dark denim walking across the street.

The Clyde Trench is the brand’s latest trench version for the season and one they can’t keep in stock. The Clyde is oversized, so I sized down 2 sizes for the perfect fit. It features a classic collar and button opening down the middle.

There is no tie component to the Clyde, it’s an open trench unless you button it up. The inside lining is also a check pattern in each color that’s offered, there are 5 different colors of the Clyde, I have the ecru version.

Sézane Will Jacket

WOMAN WEARING BLACK WILL JACKET FROM SEZANE.

The Will Jacket is one of the brand’s most iconic staples, offering that effortlessly chic Parisian jacket style that works year-round. Designed with clean lines, practical pockets, and a slightly structured fit, the Will Jacket is available in a variety of fabrics, making it a versatile piece for any wardrobe.

I personally own this jacket in both the linen fabric, where I chose to size up for a more relaxed fit, and the suede fabric, where I comfortably wear my usual size Small. Whether layered over a dress, styled with denim, or paired with tailored trousers, the Sézane Will Jacket is the perfect balance of timeless French design and everyday functionality.

Sézane Johnson Coat

The Johnson Coat is such a classic and timeless piece. I have it in Navy and did size up to an 8 so I could wear sweaters underneath. I love the length and structure of the coat.

The Coat also comes in several other colors but I love the elegant look of the Navy. The Johnson is also lined as well, providing some extra warmth.

Sézane James Coat

The gold buttons on this James Coat are what stand out to me, they add a bit of detail. You can either dress the coat up or down.

The James is a double-breasted coat with a shawl collar, mostly wool, and lined which I always appreciate in a coat.

I sized down on this coat to a 4, which is surprising because most of the time I will go up with a Sézane coat. So far, this might be my absolute fall favorite from Sézane.

I can still wear a sweater underneath but it’s a bit more fitted this way. If you want to wear a sweater underneath and still want a lot of room, then you might want to size up.

Sézane Mederick Coat

The Mederick Coat is a chic and classic wrap coat for the fall season. I had to size down 2 sizes in this coat for the right fit. It’s gorgeous and I will be wearing this coat for years to come.

Sézane Wilfrield Jacket

The Wilfrield Jacket is a classic-fitting denim jacket that I wear in a medium. It’s easy to wear with tops, over dresses, and with a basic tee, trousers, and sneakers.

Sézane Sizing Guide For Blazers

Sézane has some of the best quality blazers, I have ever worn. They are always classic and timeless, and have some sort of detail that makes them stand out. Every time I am wearing a Sézane blazer I receive a compliment.

Sézane Michele

Navy is my favorite color so when I saw this Michele Jacket a few years ago, I immediately purchased it. The gold button details make the blazer stand out from the rest. I did size down in this blazer as it’s a little oversized and does fall below the hip. I am wearing a U.S. size 4 in this blazer and a French size 36.

Woman walking with plaid blazer in front of green door in Paris | A Guide To Sézane Sizing

Here’s the Michele in the Houndstooth which I am also wearing in a size U.S. 4 and French size 36. This is the perfect blazer for fall and the winter season due to its dark colorway and houndstooth pattern.

I am also wearing the Vicky Loafer here in my normal size and Milo Vintage bag.

Sézane Christie

Woman wearing denim, black blazer, white tee.

Another favorite blazer is the Christie, which I own in camel and black in a U.S. size 6 and French size 38. I love to wear these blazers with jeans, a cami, pumps, and sneakers.

Sizing Guide To Sweaters

Sézane sweaters are my absolute favorite and one item I tend to buy multiples of in the Fall and Winter seasons. The sweaters are so incredibly made, soft, and timeless. Depending on the sweater I will either take my normal size or go up a size if I want it to be a bit roomier. For cardigans, I always take a small and for other fitted sweaters, I will go up to a medium.

Sézane Betty Cardigan

The Betty Cardigan, is timeless and classic, and has become a true staple for the brand. Betty is a long sleeve, merino wool cardigan with buttons down the front and chest pockets on each side.

Betty comes in a wide array of colors for each new season and can easily be dressed up with trousers or worn casually with jeans. I wear the Betty in a size medium and it’s the perfect fit for a t-shirt or tank underneath.

Sézane Gaspard

The Gaspard is an iconic sweater from the brand and one they carry every year in an array of colors. I wear a small in the Gaspard but you can certainly size up for more of a relaxed look.

One of my favorite details about the Gaspard is you can wear it two ways with the buttons in the back or like a regular cardigan, with the buttons in the front.

The Gaspard can be itchy for some and I always suggest wearing a cami underneath if sweaters like this bother you.

Sézane Samuel Jumper

The Samuel Jumper is a sleeveless sweater perfect for those in between seasons. I wear the Samuel in size small. The jumper comes in several colors and has been quite popular the last few seasons. It’s one of those pieces you can easily throw on and go with denim or pants.

Sézane Jacob Jumper

The Jacob Jumper is one of my favorite sweaters from Sézane and a style that I own 3 colors. The jumper is like a mock turtleneck but a bit elevated with the gold button details on the collar.

I wear a medium in this sweater and wear it by itself with jeans or pants, under blazers, under jackets, and even under cardigans.

Sézane Guide To Bottoms and Skirts

Sézane Gillie Skirt

I love to wear the Gillie Skirt in the fall and winter months with black tights and boots. Although it’s a short skirt it doesn’t feel too short for me and I wear a size 6.

Sézane Austin Trousers

A classic-looking pair of pants are the Austin Trousers, which I own in black and loved so much bought the grey for fall. They are beautifully made, fit amazing, and the length is perfect to wear with pumps, ballet flats, or even sneakers. I did go up a size in these.

Sizing Guide To Sézane Shoes

I believe that you get what you pay for, and that includes shoes. I don’t mind investing in shoes now that I can wear them all day long and are going to continue to be comfortable for hours. I’ve had several pairs of Sézane shoes and boots over the years and they are worth the money.

Axelle Ankle Boot

Woman wearing Sezane Axelle boot in Paris.

The Axelle Ankle boots are new to me for the season, and they are amazing. I have worn them with so many different outfits already this fall season. They are incredibly comfortable and a beautiful color that makes any basic outfit pop. I took my normal size in these boots.

Sézane Vicky Loafer

Woman wearing blazer with loafers, handbag, and denim in Paris for Sezane.

The Sézane Vicky Loafer has quickly become one of my favorite shoes for the fall season, combining chic Parisian style with everyday comfort. Crafted from high-quality leather, this classic French loafer is sleek, timeless, and versatile enough to pair with everything from denim to tailored trousers or even dresses.

What I love most is how it elevates a simple outfit, instantly adding that polished, French-inspired touch. For reference, I recommend sizing down half a size, as the Vicky Loafer runs slightly large.

Comfortable enough for all-day wear yet stylish enough to dress up or down, the Sézane Vicky Loafer is a true wardrobe staple for fall.

High Maxine Sandal

Woman wearing high maxine sandals from sezane.

The High Maxine Sandal is a beautiful high heel with a buckle strap that wraps around the ankle. Normally, I wouldn’t gravitate towards such a high heel but these sandals are incredibly comfortable.

I took my normal size in the smooth camel and found it fit perfectly. The heels are comfortable enough to stand in for a few hours although I wouldn’t walk miles in them. The Maxine is a great addition to longer-length denim, trousers, and even dresses.

HORTENSE HIGH SANDALS

Woman wearing gold sandals standing against a wall.

The Hortense High Sandal is another sandal I have fallen in love with this season. Gold sandals are my favorite shoe color to wear. They can instantly elevate any outfit and are the one shoe color I reach for when I am not sure what color to wear.

These sandals are a bit higher than I would normally choose but I think for the right occasion they are appropriate. I wouldn’t wear them to walk miles in but for elegant looks with denim and even skirts and dresses, they are a beautiful option. I take my normal size of 6.5 in these shoes.

Soline Mary Jane

Woman looking in mirror wearing black tweed jacket with black mary jane shoes.
Picture of black mary jane shoe on a mantle | A Guide To Sézane Sizing

As soon as I saw these Mary Janes on the website this spring, I immediately added them to my cart. They are incredibly chic, classic, and so Parisian. I wear my normal size in these shoes.

Regarding comfort level, they are extremely comfortable for the height although they aren’t shoes I would walk miles in by any means. Overall, however, they are comfortable and easy to wear with denim and trousers.

I shared a reel with several ways to style this shoe here on Instagram.

Sézane Adèle Boots

The Adèle Boots are perfect for those evenings when you want to dress up your outfits with tall boots. I wear my normal size in these boots and am amazed how incredibly comfortable they are.

I wore these boots all throughout Paris during the fall one evening without any sort of blister. The height is great, the fit is great, and they are a great addition for the season to wear with dresses and skirts.

Sézane Jack Sneaker

The Jack Trainers are probably some of the most comfortable sneakers I have ever worn. I took these to Paris and walked about 25,000 plus steps a day. I never got a blister or any kind of rub from these sneakers.

They are beautiful leather sneakers that I took my regular size of 6.5. These sneakers are more of a cream vs. true white but you will not regret purchasing these sneakers.

Sézane Gloria Sandals

The Gloria Sandals are one of my most worn shoes during most seasons. I love these shoes so much because that can instantly elevate any outfit. The block heel height is perfect for me and I can walk several hours in these shoes.

The pop of gold in the shoe is unexpected and they go with so many different outfit combinations. I wear these sandals with jeans, trousers, dresses, and even skirts. I wear the Gloria Sandal in my normal size.

Sézane Bags

Sézane Claude Bag

Woman in white blazer and denim with white sezane bag.

Love this super chic bag, the Claude, that I own in the ecru version. It’s super simple, classic, and the half moon shape is unique yet striking.

The bag holds more than it looks like it would with all my necessary essentials. It will fit my iPhone 15, small wallet, keys, pen, lipstick, and my sunglasses and sunglass case.

Sézane Justine basket

Packing for Paris in may with a market tote and scarf.
Woman wearing trench coat like a French girl with dark denim and a market tote.

I purchased the Justine Basket Bag last spring when it first came out and it sold out immediately. I have the dark raffia color, which is a dark navy. Now, it comes in multiple colors and even a smaller size. It’s the perfect basket bag with leather ties and a pouch inside to keep your valuables safe.

Sézane Farrow Bucket Bag

The Farrow is my first actual bucket bag and I love it so much. I bought it in Paris last year and have used it nonstop since. The leather is gorgeous and it hasn’t scratched at all.

The bag also doesn’t feel heavy even though it’s leather and is easy to carry around. It comes in 3 different sizes and I am carrying the middle size.

Sézane Milo Classic Bag

Essentials of a French wardrobe to have in your closet to look stylish and chic.

The Milo Classic, is a gorgeous leather bag that can be worn on the shoulder or crossbody. I have the natural heritage but it also comes in three other colors as well.

If you are looking to invest in high-quality and beautiful pieces that will last for years to come then Sézane needs to be on your list of places to shop.

As I invest and collect more pieces from Sézane I will continue to share about sizing as I know it always helps others. Please also leave a comment if you’ve ordered a piece and what your thoughts are on size.

Sézane Milo Vintage Taupe

The Milo Taupe has been on my radar for a bit now but is usually sold out. When it came back in stock this fall season, I immediately grabbed it. It’s such a beautiful color combination and so perfect for the fall and autumn seasons.

Sézane Shipping and Return Policy

Sézane shipping and return policy is designed to make shopping from their Parisian collections as seamless as possible. In the U.S., standard Sézane shipping typically takes 2–6 business days, while international delivery times may vary depending on location. One of the best parts about ordering from Sézane is their free returns policy—you can return or exchange items within 15 days of delivery using the prepaid return label included in your order.

Refunds are processed quickly once items are received back in their Paris warehouse, and exchanges are also simple if you need a different size. Just note that shipping fees are non-refundable, and some Sézane Archive Sale pieces may be final sale. Always check the details on the product page before purchasing so you know whether the item qualifies for free return or exchange.

Thank you for your beautiful Sezane post! This is my favorite French brand and it is very helpful to see the items you mentioned worn in real life on your photos. Enjoy your gorgeous wardrobe!

Hi Noey, I just found your post and find it so helpful!
Would you mind to share your feet size and what size you got in Axelle boots, please?
I’m usually size 38 EU but 7.5 US and in Sezane’s chart they mention 38 as US 7..
    Thank you!

    Hi,
I love your post! I have saved it as reference for future purchases. I just received my Collette in size M but it seems a bit large. I am also 5’2 1/2 and wear a 34D bra. Is the Collette mariner supposed to be a little boxy? I just don’t want to go through the hassle of returning the item. I will be going to Paris in September and plan on picking up some of those beauties you mentioned.
Also, which store do you shop in? I’ll be staying in Montmartre.
    Thanks!
    Monica

    Hi!

I love ur blog! Have always wanted to try Sezane as you style them beautifully & I feel they are the go to brand for the Parisian style. I ended up ordering & keeping the navy Michele blazer & camel Christie blazer! I normally wear a 10 in blazers from jcrew or a Med in other brands but for these I ordered an 8 in both. Roomy but not too oversized. I feel a 10 would have been too big. Im going to order the Colette & Leontine next!

Thank you for posting recommendations & sizing! Super helpful!

    Lena

  5. Roxanne Tornyi says:

I really liked your run down of the sizing and the pictures of the items and the fit. Do you mention anywhere on your blog your measurements? I’m trying to figure out what will work with me with the Sezane items and I’m a little bit between a 6 and 8. I’ve taken my measurements, converted them to cm and compared to the Sezane size chart (thanks for the hyperlink!), but I’m curious to know how I would compare size-wize to you as an example. Thanks for this post. It was fun and lovely to read. (also the button below to submit comments looks invisible on my browser…)
