Dress Like a French Woman

A Parisian-inspired one-page style guide for effortless, everyday dressing.

  • WALK and be what the French call a Flâneur, or someone who strolls. This is my favorite way to see the city. Get lost and see the most unexpected memorable sights.
  • You can catch a TAXI (make sure it has a green light on the top) this means it’s available. If there is a taxi stand within the vicinity, you will need to wait in line there before being able to be picked up. You will need euros(cash) for the taxi drivers. Always make sure the meter is running, don’t let them charge you a flat rate(unless coming from the airport). Keep in mind, that there are times when it’s more difficult to find a taxi (during rush hour in the morning, on weekends) wait times may be longer. You can ask your hotel to book a taxi for you, but there will be an automatic charge added to your ride.
  • You can download and use the Paris taxi service G7 app. It’s very similar to Uber, you can schedule ahead of time and book from the app. Make sure to download this app before you arrive in Paris.
  • Uber is used throughout the city the same as anywhere with the Uber app.
  • The Paris Metro is extremely easy to use and get around the city. You can buy a single ticket for a single ride or buy a pack of 10 if you will be using it for the duration of your stay. Make sure to hold onto your ticket(and your child’s) until you exit the station, don’t throw them away beforehand. You can also buy a Navigo card for monthly or weekly use. It allows you to use all transportation within Paris and the Île-de-France region. We used this during our month in Paris and it was so handy.
