On our last trip to Paris, we stayed at the Hotel Bonsoir Madame which is located in the 6th arrondissement between Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Odéon, and Montparnasse.
Saint-Germain-des-Prés is my favorite arrondissement to stay in Paris so I am always trying to find little gem hotels to stay in during my visits.
This boutique hotel has 34 luxurious rooms, a cute little downstairs area for a breakfast buffet, a bar with an honor system, and a spa area, although we didn’t use this.
The concierge and receptionist were wonderful to work with and available 24 hours a day. They also have luggage storage which comes in very handy. Our room was tiny and our suitcases barely fit so they stored them for us downstairs for a week.
Of course, the hotel provides all the usual amenities like WIFI, in-room safe, cozy bathrobes, hair dryer, kettle, and still, and sparkling water.
We stayed in one of the terrace rooms which had a great view but was extremely small. We requested two twin beds and could barely move around. However, I would gladly take a terrace view any day and deal with a small room.
With that being said, the bathroom was also very small with a tiny shower and sink. However, it did the job and was pretty on par with hotel room bathrooms in Paris.
The Terrace
The terrace wasn’t huge by any means but lovely enough for what we wanted. We would sit out there in the mornings with coffee and pastries.
In the evenings, we would open a bottle of wine and relax with the view. It also helped that I packed my BOSE speaker and wine bottle opener as I knew we would need both of these things for sitting on the terrace.
We had a wonderful view where we could see the beacon from the Eiffel Tower every night. This was my favorite part about this room. I loved watching her shine her light over the city each night.
Location
The hotel has an exceptional location with the Luxembourg Gardens being right around the corner and less than a 2-minute walk. Other spots such as Le Bon Marche, Café de Flore, and Saint Sulpice are all within easy walking distance.
Directly across from the hotel is a bakery and restaurant, Bread and Roses which serves pastries along with other light dishes throughout the day.
Down the street is a boulangerie, La Parisienne, which is a favorite and one we would visit every day. Across from the boulangerie is Café Madame, a cute little place for wine and dinner.
Also, you must try La Gorgee for dinner one evening. It’s right down the road from the hotel and one of the most delicious and unexpected meals.
Overall, I would absolutely stay at the Hotel Bonsoir Madame again. Really the only downside was the room size but again I would rather have a great terrace and a smaller room.
This is a fantastic explanation and review of the hotel. Were there larger rooms? We are looking at this hotel for our trip in a few months.
Ahh such a lovely post, especially because most of these places are literally on my block 🙂 I love living in Notre Dame des Champs, I would say I would prefer it than Saint Germain, as this area is calmer and we can get a real everyday feel of the parisien life, even with the close proximity of touristic places. We go to La Parisienne and Café Madame every day 😣😂, and the staff in both places is so lovely, they will do anything to accommodate. I love going to Café Madame early mornings and seeing the local ladies and gentlemen sit down and have their « allongé » and croissant along with their newspaper. Sounds like a cliché, but it is actually very common!
