What To Pack For Paris In October
Planning a trip to Paris in October is exciting, but knowing what to pack for Paris in October can make all the difference in enjoying your time in the City of Light. October in Paris brings crisp fall weather, colorful leaves, and cooler temperatures that usually range from the mid-40s°F to the low-60s°F (7–16°C).
With a mix of sunny days and occasional rain showers, creating a versatile Paris packing list for fall is essential. From stylish layers and comfortable walking shoes to a chic trench coat and practical accessories, this guide will help you decide exactly what to wear in Paris in October so you feel both prepared and effortlessly Parisian.

Weather In Paris During October
If you’re wondering what to wear in Paris in October, expect crisp autumn weather and plenty of cozy layering opportunities. Temperatures usually range from the mid-40s°F to the low-60s°F (around 7–16°C), with the average in the 50s.
October is one of the best times to visit Paris, but you’ll need to plan your travel wardrobe carefully. Since rain is common, be sure to pack for Paris in fall with a stylish trench coat, waterproof boots, and a compact umbrella.
These essentials will keep you comfortable while still giving you that polished Parisian look as you explore the city.
Shoes to Pack For Paris in October

When deciding what shoes to wear in Paris in October, comfort should be at the top of your packing list. Paris always involves a lot of walking—whether you’re exploring cobblestone streets, museums, or strolling along the Seine—so bringing a pair of stylish yet practical sneakers for Paris is essential.
Classic options like VEJA, Adidas Sambas, Stan Smiths, or Converse are popular among Parisians and blend effortlessly with a fall travel wardrobe. Additionally, pack a pair of waterproof ankle boots or booties that can withstand rainy days while still being comfortable enough for all-day wear.
For evenings out or dinners, you can bring along dressier shoes, but leave the stilettos at home as they aren’t practical for everyday walking in the city. And remember—Paris is not the place to break in new shoes, so be sure to bring pairs that are already worn-in and comfortable.

Best Walking Shoes for Paris
Paris means miles of walking every day. Always pack comfortable sneakers like VEJA, Stan Smiths, Adidas Sambas, or Converse for effortless Parisian style.
Waterproof Boots = Must
October in Paris often brings rain. A pair of waterproof ankle boots will keep your feet dry and stylish while exploring the cobblestone streets.
No Heels for Daytime
Leave stilettos at home. Cobblestones and long walks make them impractical. Save heels for dinners or nights out instead.
Don’t Break in New Shoes in Paris
One of the most important Paris packing tips is to bring shoes that are already broken in and comfortable for all-day walking.

Neutral Outfits To Pack and Wear in Paris

Whenever I travel to Paris, I prefer to blend in more with the locals rather than stand out as a tourist, so I try to keep my outfits very neutral. I make sure to pack versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched with each other.
I also like to pack pieces that are timeless, classic, and a bit chic. You would be surprised how much of a difference it makes when you are dressed more like a local versus an out-of-town visitor.
Packing basics will go a long way and actually give you more outfits to choose from. A good place to start would be with a pair of blue or black denim. A pair of grey or black trousers and a long black skirt or dress.
You will often see Parisian women wearing jeans and trousers. Depending on the weather, some will still have on dresses or skirts with a jacket. Please leave your yoga pants at home. No athleisurewear, please. Shoes will be mostly sneakers and booties, with a slingback also being an option.
Another thing to consider is whether any of your pieces require tailoring before your trip. I always take anything to the tailor a few weeks before the trip to ensure they are ready in time.
Layering Pieces To Pack and Wear in Paris in October
When planning what to pack for Paris in October, layers are absolutely essential. The weather can shift from crisp mornings to damp, chilly afternoons, so having versatile pieces you can add or remove throughout the day will make your trip much more comfortable.
When packing for fall in Paris, be sure to include lightweight base layers to wear under sweaters, a chic blazer, or a classic trench coat. Some of my favorite layering essentials are silk camisoles from J.Crew or Cuyana, long-sleeve tees from Everlane or J.Crew, and timeless T-shirts from Sézane.
Building your outfits around these staples ensures you’ll always know what to wear in Paris in October while staying both stylish and practical.

Travel Gear for October
When it comes to travel gear, I’ve learned over the years what works the best and items you may not think about but have helped me. When it comes to traveling on a plane this is what I always have with me.
A great carry-on bag for the plane which is comfortable enough to carry everything I need. I have this carry-on bag and carry-on suitcase, which I have been incredibly happy with.
Inside the bag, I pack my eye mask, water bottle, and slippers ( I like to put these on when I am on the plane). Of course, my headphones are always with me as well.
Here are a few beauty tips for when I travel to Paris. I also apply this hydrating face mask when I board to keep my face hydrated and use this eye cream upon landing to help with puffiness.
When I check a suitcase, I use these Amazon suitcases and they have been great. I also use these packing cubes to help I can pack more, and these laundry bags.
This luggage scale always goes with me, so I know how heavy my bags are, and this travel steamer is perfect and works very well.
Other important items not to forget would be adapters, phone and camera chargers, and a travel wallet if you want ( I use one and love it because I carry paperwork in there as well).

Hi – I love your style! How is the sizing on the Nomasei loafers they are beautiful! I’m usually a 6.5 or 7, not sure what size to order and what color?
Hi Denise, Thank you so much! I am a true 6.5 and I take a size 36 in the loafers! They are so beautiful and fun, you will love them! I think the Burgundy is a classic color that will go with everything but if you want a pop of color then you could do the mustard or sky blue!
Let me know how you like them!
Thank You,
Noelani
Happy Birthday, Noey! And thanks for your usual vision on French style!!
