1. The Trench
The trench coat is such an iconic French classic throughout any Season but especially in the Spring. It’s such a basic way to update an outfit and you will see French women wearing them mostly during Spring and Fall.
I know this is the time I reach for my trench coat the most. The trench coat is also the perfect transition coat to wear between seasons as well because they are so versatile and will go with anything in your closet.
My favorite is the Sèzane Scott trench but Mango also has a nice selection of trench coats as well at affordable prices.
2. Button Down
One of the mainstays for French girl Spring style is a great-looking button-down. This top is so versatile and classic and goes with anything. You can wear it with your favorite denim for a more casual look, over a dress tied at the waist for a picnic look, and with any color of pants for a more polished look.
My favorite way to wear a button-down is with denim, flats, and a great-looking tote. Opt for a classic white button-down or go with an Oxford blue or even a blue and white stripe button-down. In Spring and Summer choose fabrics like light cotton or even linen.

3. Stripe Shirt
Another classic French girl Spring style is a striped shirt or marinière. Wear it under blazers, trench coats, denim jackets, and with straight-leg blue or white denim.
This is about as French as you can get and you can never go wrong with a stripe top of some sort throughout the season. My favorite stripe top is from Sézane but you can also find ones at J.Crew and Everlane throughout the season.
4. Sweater
Elegant and elevated, cashmere sweaters are a must for any French woman even during the spring season. They will wear sweaters with a mini skirt and sandals, straight leg denim and heeled mules, or even with trousers and a sneaker.
5. Straight Leg Denim
French women tend to go for straight-leg jeans over skinny and prefer a higher-waisted rise to help elongate the legs. Look for straight or flare-leg denim in dark blue or light blue. During Spring wear them with booties, sandals, slingbacks, or even sneakers.
6. Cardigan
The French love their knitwear even during the spring season to layer over silk camis.. You will see them wearing cropped, vintage, ribbed, and neutral cardigans.
